Colter recognized the need in the industry to develop new and innovative procedures to improve workers safety and productivity. In December of 2008 Colter released details of its new patent pending "Wellhead Access Safety Program" known as the Colter W.A.S.P. It is the culmination of identifying a problem, devising a solution, engineering and designing a prototype and putting it to work.
Hitorically, after the drilling rig has been moved from
site, most completions were done with the assistance of a
service rig. With more and more oil & gas companies doing
rig-less completions work, a void was identified by the
industry for a safe working platform to access higher well
heads. Equipment such as scaffolding, man baskets, other
platforms devices and even ladders are presently beign
used to address the problem. Colter is confident that they
have developed an effective solution that will address
well head height issues, with safety being the number one concern.
The Colter W.A.S.P. is a completely self contained, portable, hydraulic work platform, that provides a safe working space for completion services. Unlike other platform devices or scaffolding, the W.A.SP. is simple to setup and operate and requires no other services to assist in rigging up. |
